Tell us what convinced you to join Phoenix FM?
My background is Radio and Television, so when I arrived in Ireland, the second person I met, through a friend told me about Phoenix FM. By just mentioning that there’s a community radio station not far from where I stay (Corduff), I was excited so much that I couldn’t wait for the following day to come and see the station. That evening I searched the station online and listened to the programme on air, then I also did the same in the morning and got a chance to listen into D15 In The Morning. I immediately felt represented, since I live in Dublin 15 and thought I would be happy to be part of the Phoenix FM family.
How has your time with Phoenix FM been?
It’s been a great journey to be honest. One year down the line, I still feel excited whenever I come to the studio, it’s like I have just started. I loved the way I was welcomed and got easily introduced into the programming, first with D15 In The Morning and then with Afro Vibe show. I still look forward to making Afro Vibe show have a huge impact not only to the station but also to the community around us.
What advice would you give anyone looking to join Phoenix FM?
Phoenix FM is a family. For budding journalists, those experienced journalists coming from foreign countries as well as those experts from other fields who want to expand their experience through media, this is the place to be. It gives you a good environment to be as creative as possible. The management is always ready to listen to you as well as encourage you to introduce new ideas to the station.
