English for Living is the first programme to feature as part of the brand new initiative. This series aims to teach the listeners the English language through conversations and exercises based around every day situations. Listeners are encouraged to listen to the podcasts while completing the corresponding workbook for each episode.

Lesson 1 – Introductions
Welcome to English for Living. This series is especially for people who have been living in
Ireland for a while and who have learned some basic English and would like to learn more. It
deals with situations which people meet every day when they are living in an English speaking
country and is set particularly in Blanchardstown. The series hopes to help people to build on
the language that they already have and give them more vocabulary and expressions for
communicating in everyday life. It aims to give people more confidence so that they can
explain clearly what they need or want to know and understand more easily what people are
asking them.

In this lesson you will learn how to talk about finding a house and moving into Blanchardstown.

In this lesson you will learn about primary education in Ireland.
Lesson 4 – The Shopping Centre
In this lesson you will learn the language of shopping
Lesson 5 – The Doctor
In this lesson you will learn how to make an appointment and visit a doctor.
Surgery is the name given to the doctor’s office. Sometimes you will find doctors working together in a medical centre.
Lesson 6 – The Bank
In this lesson you will learn how to open an account in a bank.
Lesson 7 – Revision
This lesson will give you the opportunity to go back over the language in the previous lessons.
A key dialogue will be taken from each lesson and you will be asked to do some old and some
new exercises.
Lesson 8 – Finding A Job
In this lesson you will learn the language related to employment and how to go about
applying for a job and doing an interview.
Lesson 9 – ITB
In this lesson you will hear an interview which has been divided into 5 parts. Each part is
followed by explanations of vocabulary and exercises. You may wish to take notes while you
