History

The Dublin 15 Community Broadcasting Cooperative Society was established in 1989 and registered byt he Registry of Friendly Societies on 25th July 1990. We received our first licence in 1999 and went on air in January 2000.

In order to meet the needs of a community which has grown rapidly to a population of 90,952 (in 2006) and is still growing at a far greater pace than most other areas in the country, the station employed a manager and staff recruited within Community Services Programme (supported by Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and Pobal) to run the station and increase services to the Dublin 15 community.

Phoenix FM currently broadcasts during evenings and week ends. The station’s programming reflects the wide range of views and interests within the community through programmes on the arts, sports, news, current affairs, local history and religious topics. Specialist music, emerging local bands and theatre and musical societies are regularly featured.
